не ожидала, что дорама будет настолько веселой и без особо драматичных заворотов...хотя я только на 12 серии, надеюсь дальше будет в таком же ритме :)

Так вот это первая дорама этой концепции. Кабельный канал tvN планирует выпустить серию “Oh Boy”, где главную роль будет играть какой-нибудь популярный красавчик ))

From pretty-boy masked heroes to pretty-boy Schedulers to pretty-boy… ramyun purveyors? The poster boy for the “kkot-minam” (flower boy) generation, Jung Il-woo, has signed on to a new drama called Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, which will air on tvN following Birdie Buddy.

Flower Boy Ramyun Shop (a working title) is the first drama in tvN’s planned “Oh Boy” series, which plays with the trendy drama format and features a star-studded lineup of flower boy leading men. The strategy is to make a direct play for the young market, and create an Oh Boy brand that opens the door for other related products and enterprises.

The Oh Boy series includes a reality/audition program, with the intention of being a long-running brand. Oh Boy Audition plans to premiere in October with seven episodes, scoping out the new generation of pretty boy leading men. The winner of that series wins a role in the second drama in the Oh Boy series, Flower Boy Attack Band.

Then at the end of October, Flower Boy Ramyun Boy will premiere, broadcasting on Mondays and Tuesdays. Jung Il-woo will play Cha Chi-soo, a conceited chado-nam (cold city man) from a wealthy family. He’s confident and chic, but also has a hidden pure side underneath it all. Aw, he’s a teddy bear hiding in asshole’s clothing. He’s the son to the country’s biggest food product conglomerate (think Nongshim, or Lotte).

Chi-soo’s also used to making women’s hearts flutter, but it’s a noona (6 years his senior), Eun-bi, who grabs his attention — and with her character described as an easygoing physical education teacher-in-training, I’m gonna guess she’s far from his usual type. (Aw, now I want to see him re-team with Yoon Eun-hye, though I won’t hold my breath for that pairing. But she’d fit the description so well. I’d be happy with Lee Yoon-ji or Nam Sang-mi, though, although those are also pipe dreams.)

I’m going to love seeing Jung Il-woo as the lead in a romantic comedy. Despite his pretty-boy status, this is actually a first for him, playing the leading rom-com man. His most known roles have been as a scene-stealing teenager in Unstoppable High Kick, righteous hero in Return of Iljimae, and the crankypants Scheduler of 49 Days. Jung’s last rom-com was 2009′s My Fair Lady, but even putting aside how awful that show was, he was just a second lead there. He did have a romantic loveline in the 2007 movie My Love, but he was only one of many characters in that omnibus project.

Man, is tvN on a roll or what? They really aren’t kidding about making a substantial foray into the prime-time drama market. And with their newfound dedication to bringing us a whole slew of pretty manboys to flood their dramas, I am ALL for it.

да, очень понравилась! одна из лучших дорамок этого года... ну а из исторических это точно. Да и в голосовании на dramabeans... в этой категории это так)

Честно, меня немного останавливает Пак Ши Ху, я его видела в Прокурорше и он там был хорош, но потом начала смотреть "Как встретить идеального соседа" и готова была прибить )) и как-то очень к нему охладела. а тут он еще с длинным волосом, не знаю смогу ли вынести )) хотя эту актрису еще с Великолепного наследия люблю.
Но историческое я могу только с переводом смотреть, в любом случае.
Хорошая новость про конец, а то меня с самого начала напрягло сравнение с Ромео и Джульеттой ))

Переводчик eris2 , которая делает софтсаб с корейского на английский, и выкладывает на сумпи дает пояснения некоторым моментам, мне было интересно почитать.

Translator's Note on "Poop"

As you've probably noticed, the use of word "poop" or colloquially, "crap" is used quite often in the drama. The over-use is totally intentional, and not many Korean people older than an elementary school kid use this words as often as Cha Chisoo or Eunbi.

The first notable instance of "poop" was when Cha Chisoo described Eunbi as "some poop I stepped in yesterday" to his friends in an early episode.

Later, one of Cha Chisoo's crew was complaining about a clingy girl and the other friend said literally, "Is she poop now?" This was my first indication that Cha's crew must use it as a special code word specifically for girls that they have put on the blacklist of clingy, annoying, ugly, etc, but it wasn't fully explained, so I left it up to the viewers to catch it or not. ^^;;

In episode 10, I was finally reaffirmed of this special meaning when Lily/So-ee explained a girl who is "poop" to Cha Chisoo is "out." (She used the English word "out," which many Koreans use in the way it is intended for baseball, as in, "you're out.") This conversation, however, was short and may not have seemed so important, so I was worried if people missed it or not...

I'm sure many of you have some special words/slang that you only use in the company of a certain group of friends, and this is kind of what this is. In general, when Cha Chisoo uses the word "poop," it always feels there's a little sting to it, so I hope you can also get this feeling knowing about its special meaning, as it was revealed in Episode 10.

When others use the word, they use it more naturally, as it is used commonly.

TRANSLATOR'S NOTE ON THE CAVIAR SCENE:
It seems that Cha Chisoo knew exactly what Eunbi was getting at with asking about Shinhwa and Kim Kwang-suk; he just let her say it, because he knew how he would react. Frankly, most high school students know exactly who Shinhwa is, even if they aren't fans. (Note that Bawool knew exactly who Shinhwa was from a poster in an earlier episode.) Additionally, Chisoo's ignorance may also stem from his dislike of "music with words," but in my opinion he was just feigning ignorance. On top of that, Chisoo would know exactly who Kim Kwang-suk is, because he bought his CD in an earlier episode. I think the writer is letting us know the age gap thing is moot, but Eunbi feebly brings it up to protect herself from being hurt by Chisoo. (Even with the 6 years age gap, they are technically still the same generation and will be in their 20's at the same time...)
Either way, Chisoo treated it as a poor argument on Intern's part. He most likely was upset with all the ramyun references, as in KH=real ramyun (not cup ramyun); oh, and about her passively saying his feelings are BS in her eyes...

TRANSLATOR'S NOTE ON "making my heart bubble":
Those who have been using my subs may notice I use the phrase "make my heart bubble," which when translated directly from Korean would be "make my heart boil." Unfortunately this direct translation already is an idiom in the English language meaning something different of what it means in this drama (make my heart boil = make me very upset or angry). "Bubble" may seem awkward, but the phrasing is awkward in Korean too as "boil my heart." It's a direct connection with boiling ramyun, as the same verb is used to describe cooking ramyun in boiling water, said together as "boiling ramyun." I hope you can all understand my use of "bubble" instead of "boil" or fully interpreting to it's full meaning, "warm my heart." FYI, I've never heard "boil my heart" until this drama... it's more common to to say "가슴 설레다" which means, "my heart is aflutter" or even "가슴 따뜻해지다" which is "warms my heart."

TRANSLATOR'S NOTE ON "having a taste/checking the flavor":
This is a common phrase in Korea (간을 보다, literally "check the spice/flavor"). It can mean just tasting something to check if the flavor is okay. It is also used, mainly by men, to say "try out a girl" (or guy). Think of this conversation:
"Do you like that girl?"
"I'm just checking the flavor."
It is somewhat notoriously used by people who have multiple lovers and/or is cheating on their current lover for someone "meaningless."
"Are you going to give up your girlfriend to date that girl?"
"I'm just checking the flavor."

It is used, as in the last episode more as the first way with "trying out a girl/guy."
This phrase can mean having a physical relationship but not always. I personally hate this phrase and when people use it in regards to people, as it comes off a little demeaning to whoever is the "flavor," because it can infer that the person doesn't actually like the "flavor" person but is still messing around with him/her.

Some people would say it's characteristic of some younger people to have a physical relationship before an emotional one, which led to the development of this slang.

Finally, TRANSLATOR'S NOTE ON "discipliner":
In two key conversations, Cha Chisoo describes Yang Eunbi as having two sides the "woman" and the "discipliner." This word used for "discipliner" (꼰대, ggondae) in Korean is usually used to describe a father or a teacher, but it is almost always used to describe a man, characterizing the time when he is disciplining or yelling at his child or student. Anyway, wanted to point out it's a word usually used to describe a man, which brings it in contrast even more with "woman."

Also, I want to point out that Eunbi has a dirty mouth. She talks like a high schooler and curses a lot. She talks more like a high schooler than Cha Chisoo, who tends to mix businessy talk with a tiny bit of high schooler-like speaking.
While subbing ep.12, a weird thought came to mind as Hwanwoong (Chisoo's nickname) came up again...
btw, 12 will be timed to arigaTo again...

Hwanwoong is the fabled diety "son of god" who came down from lands of the heavens and started the blood line that brought about the Korean people, according to Korean folk stories.

There were a tiger and a bear that wanted to become human, so Hwanwoong said if they live in a cave for 100 days on only garlic and mugwort, then he'll make them human. The tiger got hungry and left but the bear stayed, so Hwanwoong turned the bear into a beautiful woman, named Woong-nyu... I think.

Anyway, I suddenly realized, a lot of pretty boy with left out girl dramas follow this formula. Maybe Korean people really do love this story. There's a girl, going through some kind of challenge, toiling in something really hard because she "has a dream"(eg. Boys Over Flowers: Jandi and swimming/bullying, Best Love: washed up actress still going at it, Secret Garden: martial arts star... wants to at least; Shining Inheritance: girl going through rough times, man, rough times).

That is until they met a beautiful man that turns her into a beautiful woman (wink wink, nudge nudge), or at least buys her a bunch of pretty stuff and makes her feel all woman-like. If anything though, this drama is poking fun at this formula a little, especially making the beautiful man an immature brat... that was awesome.

Anyway, I might puke if this drama has a "department store scene." I know you all know what I'm talking about!! I really don't like those scenes... but I know a lot of times it has to do with sponsoring or something... >_<

I think what draws me most to this drama is that the characters are so believable. Cha Chisoo reminds me of some of my dongsaengs. Giant chef man reminds me of a friend of mine (really). Bawool and Hyunwoo, remind me of some of the youngsters I know. I mean, Eunbi really doesn't remind me of someone specifically, but I can see her existing. I think that's this drama's strongest point, even though it isn't the most original, intriguing, etc. etc. I hope other dramas take note and start making more characters with believable personalities. ^___^

Because of a sudden visit from president Cha, chisoo and eunbi who were in eunbis room hide themselves in a flash. Not knowing this, president Cha and kanghyuk have a calm and sincere conversation, and eunbi hears a shocking truth.
Bawool and hyunwoo who were at the store at this time overhear as well, and the whole ramen store family come to learn of chisoo and kanghyuks secret.
On another part, the next morning a character dressed to go on a solitary vacation/trip appears, and it is none other than chachisoo.
He appears with the mentality that he would "eat grass and live"(korean saying, basically saying live with nothng, be poor) with eunbi, and he begins his hard lifestyle in eunbis house.

ты смотрела с ней "Искушение волков" и еще "Пойдем на пляж"? а так я посмотрела она в каких-то длиннющих сериалах по 140 серий снималась и не очень много работ. она не то чтобы красотка, как корейцы любят, но забавная )) и милая.
может после этого сериала карьера у нее пойдет вверх (надеюсь).
у нее кстати всегда химия с актером в наличие (из того что я видела)

Искушение смотрела конечно, это же почти классика, а вот Пойдем на пляж пока нет. Теперь поставлю в очередь просмотров.)
На счет прощания, да это типичный момент в корейских дорамах. Надеюсь он не уступает ее своему брату? Думаю такую глупость он не совершит.

Да уж, туалетная тема здесь развита. Что ни серия кто-нибудь на унитазе.)) Но согласна, совсем не портит. В этом сериале меня всё радует.
Да, похоже Рыжик к ним переедет а мы посмотрим как "лев будет жевать траву". )
